The giving that attracts no blessing

Matthew 6:1-4

Many people give with hidden motives, mostly for the praise of men.

The word of God says " Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. "

This was a caution Jesus gave to all who came to hear him as he was seated with his disciples. If you are reading this devotion, his caution is also to you.
The root word for alms or charitable here goes beyond just giving financially but every righteous deed.

Many have stopped giving at church because they were not applauded, recognised or rewarded.  Jesus said "Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward"

"Do not sound a trumpet before you as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory from men."

Obedience to God concerning giving is far more rewarding than what you feel. In Gen. 4:6-7 "And the LORD said unto Cain, Why are you angry? and why is your countenance fallen? If you do well, shall you not be accepted? and if you do not well, sin lies at the door. And you shall be its desire, and you must rule over it."

It's not every giving or sacrifice  that is  accepted by God but a giving in obedience to God. Abel obeyed God and offered what God asked him to give but Cain gave what he felt like giving to God. He thought it will please God but God is not a man my dear.

Give freely whether noticed or unnoticed, do your righteous deeds as you are directed by God to do not to please anyone but to please God and receive favour from God. He says"...and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly".

Seek the reward of our Father not men, for His reward is a blessing even onto generations yet unborn . You are blessed and highly favored. Shalom.... Apostle Elikem Joshua Avotri.
